Business Administration (MBA)
Virginia Tech’s Flex MBA is built for working professionals who want to advance their careers without putting life on hold. The part-time format lets you keep working full time while applying what you learn on the job from your very first semester.
While in-person courses are available at Academic Building One, students who wish to join us virtually can complete their degree entirely online. Online courses are delivered in an asychnronous format, with optional live sessions with faculty and classmates offered throughout each term to keep you connected.
The curriculum is a focused 30-credit program of study made up of ten three-credit courses spanning accounting, finance, marketing, organizational behavior, business intelligence and visualization analytics, management controls, and strategy. Every course is a required core course, so you graduate with a complete and rigorous business foundation and with skills you can utilize immediately.
Our program also gives students the ability to choose their own completion timeline. . Students who take two courses each fall and spring and one each summer earn the degree in about 24 months. A heavier load shortens that to roughly 18 months; a lighter one extends it to two and a half years or more, with up to five years allowed to complete the program. New students can begin their studies in the fall or spring semester.
Courses are taught by full-time Pamplin faculty, many of whom live and work in the greater Washington, D.C., area — keeping your coursework connected to what is actually happening across business, technology, and government.
The Flex MBA is offered by the Pamplin College of Business, accredited by AACSB International: a distinction held by only 6 percent of business schools worldwide. Tuition is residency-neutral, so you pay the same rate whether you live in Virginia or across the country.
Applicants must have a minimum of two years of full-time, post-degree professional work experience by the time they enroll. Military service counts towards this requirement. Every application is reviewed holistically, with professional experience, academic record, test scores or an approved GMAT/GRE waiver, essays, recommendations, and a short video all considered by the admissions committee during the review process.
When you earn an MBA from Virginia Tech, you join the Hokie Nation. With more than 55,000 alumni in the Washington, D.C., metro area and over 280,000 worldwide, you gain a professional network that will support your goals long after graduation.
